Emma Raducanu Set for Italian Open Challenge

Emma Raducanu is set to compete in the 2025 Internazionali BNL d’Italia, commonly known as the Italian Open, which runs from May 7 to 18 at Rome’s historic Foro Italico. This WTA 1000 event serves as a crucial clay-court tournament leading up to the French Open later this month.

The British No. 2 enters the tournament aiming to build on her recent performances. After reaching the quarter-finals at the Miami Open in March, she secured a first-round victory over Suzan Lamens at the Madrid Open before a second-round exit to Marta Kostyuk. These matches have been part of her ongoing adaptation to clay surfaces.

Raducanu’s participation in Rome is particularly significant as she did not compete in the event last year, presenting an opportunity to gain valuable ranking points. Currently ranked No. 49, a strong showing could improve her seeding prospects for upcoming Grand Slam tournaments, including the French Open and Wimbledon.

The women’s singles draw at the Italian Open begins on Wednesday, May 7, with Raducanu joining fellow British players Katie Boulter and Sonay Kartal in the main draw. Day sessions start at 10:00 BST, and evening sessions commence at 18:00 BST.

As Raducanu continues her comeback, the Italian Open represents a pivotal moment to assess her progress and readiness for the challenges ahead on the clay-court circuit.
